Were you sad when the Max Remy series ended?

I’d known for a while that Max Remy Part 10: The Final Curtain was going to be the last Max Remy, but when I finished it, I was sad for about two weeks. It felt like saying goodbye to two young kids I’d known for 8 years and I was never going to see them again. I’m okay now, though. When I miss them too much, I just read the books again and again.

What are you working on now?

My latest book is The Remarkable Secret of Aurelie Bonhoffen. It’s about a 12 year-old-girl called Aurelie who lives with her family on a seaside pier. They run the pier with its ferris wheels, merry-go-rounds, ice-cream parlours and waffle stands, but just after her 12th birthday, Aurelie discovers that she shares the pier with ghosts! I’m now working on a new book called, Grimsdon. It has flooded cities, evil harbour lords, flying machines and sea monsters!
